Reading St Laurence Tour

Reading St Laurence Tour

St Laurence’s was one of Reading’s three original parish churches, along with St Mary’s and St Giles. It was built to serve the eastern population of the town. Sited next to Reading Abbey, the town’s market soon developed in the space in front of the church.

Take this rare opportunity to enjoy a guided tour of St Laurence’s, with well known local historian David Cliffe. During this visit we will look at the memorials within the church, including one to John Blagrave, the 16th century mathematician.  We will also find out about the church’s history which dates back to the time of the formation of Reading Abbey in 1121, and learn about the families associated with it.

The meeting place will be notified in the week running up to the visit.

Numbers are limited, so pre-booking is required.
