100 years of Shopping in Reading: historic shops in the town centre & BAM

In a change to our previously advertised talk, following a short Branch Annual Meeting we will be welcoming Ann Smith who will tell us about 100 years of Shopping in Reading: historic shops in the town centre.

Travel back in time and relive those memories of shopping in Reading. In this virtual tour of Readings main shopping streets be transported back to bygone days when cars were not such a hazard and pedestrianized zones were not even thought about.

This talk is free to members of Berkshire Family History Society and we request a donation of £5 from non-members.

    Ann graduated from Bristol University and worked for 20 years in Reading Central Library where she became interested in local history. She is a committee member of Berkshire Local History Association.

    She has recently edited and published a
    book on The History of Woodley written by members of the local U3A.
